Less than one month removed from signing his three-year extension with the New York Jets worth up to $45 million, linebacker Jamien Sherwood continues to embrace the New York lifestyle.
In a story on his official Instagram account, Sherwood was spotted at Yankee Stadium on Friday night while rocking a Jazz Chisholm Jr. jersey.
Unfortunately, the Bronx Bombers didn’t put up the best showing for Sherwood, as New York dropped a tough 9-1 game to the San Francisco Giants.
Sherwood, 25, hit free agency this offseason as one of the more intriguing names on the market after a breakout year in 2024.
Thrust into a starting role due to C.J. Mosley’s injury-riddled season, the former Auburn standout rose to the occasion. Sherwood was voted team MVP after leading the Jets with 158 total tackles, including a league-best 98 solo stops over 17 games, 16 of which he started.
A fifth-round pick in 2021 by general manager Joe Douglas, Sherwood added 10 tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and three pass breakups to his impressive stat line.
The 25-year-old earned a stellar 73.8 grade from Pro Football Focus for the 2024 season, ranking 10th overall among 64 linebackers.
Although he was drafted by a previous regime, first-year head coach Aaron Glenn has voiced strong support for linebacker Jamien Sherwood, calling him a “true QB of the defense.”
With the extension in place, Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey are counting on the Auburn product to build on his breakout 2024 campaign and continue his ascent among the NFL’s elite linebackers.
