Who should first-year general manager Darren Mougey and the New York Jets select with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft?
Naturally, that is the hottest topic among NY Jets fans. After yet another long mock draft season of legitimate news and utter nonsense, Round 1’s primetime is nearly here.
Therefore, any and every legitimate opinion is worth mentioning and analyzing.
ESPN New York and Mad Dog Sports Radio host Jake Asman has made it abundantly clear who he wants to see Gang Green select at No. 7, and it is Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
The argument for Tyler Warren
“Tell me how Tyler Warren wouldn’t make a lot of sense? asked Asman. while hosting his popular Jets-specific “Jake Asman Show. “Seriously, this guy is an animal in the blocking game. He’s an animal as a receiver.
“I would prefer the receiver because I think it’s more of a premium position, but I’m not going to underdraft a guy just because he plays a quote on quote more premium position. If a guy’s great, he’s great.”
At 22 years old, Warren spent five seasons at Penn State from 2020 to 2024, redshirting as a freshman. He appeared in 56 games during his college career, recording 159 receptions for 1,839 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Ranked No. 9 overall on Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board, the Virginia native emerged as one of the top tight ends in the country during the 2024 season, finishing with 104 catches for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns. Warren also ranked second among tight ends in forced missed tackles (19) and third in contested catches (13).
His breakout season earned him consensus All-America honors along with the John Mackey Award, annually given to the nation’s top tight end.
