At long last, the New York Jets sit alone atop the AFC East division... well, at least according to one popular fan poll.

The New York Jets have won the AFC East… in a social media poll about uniforms.

Jets fans will take whatever they can get, though. After all, this fanbase is passionate about its team’s uniforms and logos, so this is something of a serious matter in Jetsland.

In a June 5 poll published by popular X account NFL Fashion Advice, the Jets were pitted against their three AFC East rivals in a battle to determine who has the best helmet in the division. After 24 hours, the Jets emerged victorious by a longshot, earning 55.4% of the 5,002 votes cast.

The Buffalo Bills finished a distant second with 23.7% of the votes. The New England Patriots were third at 12.8%, while the Miami Dolphins finished last with just 8.1% of the votes.

It is a crowning achievement for the Jets organization, which sought these results when it overhauled its uniforms and logos one year ago. If this poll were conducted before the overhaul, the Jets likely would have finished in fourth place with a minimal portion of the pie. Now, they boast the flashiest headgear in the division.

It all comes down to the logo change. The Jets’ helmet shell is the same as it was with the 2019-23, featuring a chrome green. All that changed was the logo and the facemask, which was switched from black to white.

The Jets’ previous helmet logo was a wordmark pulled from the primary logo, featuring the word “Jets” with a football partially overlaid. It was considered an eyesore by many.

Today, the Jets’ helmet logo is their new primary logo, which is a moderately altered version of the beloved primary logo they used from 1978-97.

With their AFC East title secured, the Jets will advance to the knockout round of NFL Fashion Advice’s helmet tournament. They will clash head-to-head with a formidable foe in the fashion world: The Los Angeles Chargers, who have one of the most acclaimed identities in sports.

It is a rematch of the 2009 AFC divisional round, when the Jets stormed into Qualcomm Stadium and sent a 13-3 Chargers team home for the winter. Just like in those playoffs, the Jets and Chargers are among the final eight teams remaining in a prestigious tournament. If the Chargers can return the favor, it would surely make up for the 2009 playoff defeat.

At the end of the day, football isn’t about how good you play, it’s about how good you look. Wins are meaningless if you don’t look good while doing it. Therefore, the Jets are the kings of the AFC East. Their next step is to prove they have the best helmet in the entire league.
