After suffering a knee injury while returning a kickoff in the second quarter, New York Jets running back Braelon Allen has been ruled out for the remainder of tonight’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
โWhen we talk about everybody on our roster, we are always looking to use the talent that God has blessed them with,โ said Jets special teams coordinator Chris Banjo earlier in the week on why the team has begun to use Allen as a kick returner. โOn a week-to-week basis, we are always looking to find and use skill sets that can be advantageous for us.โ
Allen opened strong on the ground, rushing four times for 26 yards in the first quarter (6.5 per carry).
But his momentum was halted when a Dolphins cornerback, Jack Jones, forced a fumble at the Dolphinsโ three-yard line. Instead of a potential Jets touchdown, Miami took over and marched downfield for a score, stretching their lead to two possessions.
With Allen ruled out, running backs Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis remain the Jetsโ only active options in the backfield for the remainder of tonightโs game.
