After suffering a knee injury while returning a kickoff in the second quarter, New York Jets running back Braelon Allen has been ruled out for the remainder of tonight’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

โ€œWhen we talk about everybody on our roster, we are always looking to use the talent that God has blessed them with,โ€ said Jets special teams coordinator Chris Banjo earlier in the week on why the team has begun to use Allen as a kick returner. โ€œOn a week-to-week basis, we are always looking to find and use skill sets that can be advantageous for us.โ€

Allen opened strong on the ground, rushing four times for 26 yards in the first quarter (6.5 per carry).

But his momentum was halted when a Dolphins cornerback, Jack Jones, forced a fumble at the Dolphinsโ€™ three-yard line. Instead of a potential Jets touchdown, Miami took over and marched downfield for a score, stretching their lead to two possessions.

With Allen ruled out, running backs Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis remain the Jetsโ€™ only active options in the backfield for the remainder of tonightโ€™s game.
