The New York Jets and head coach Aaron Glenn are still looking for their first win this season.
They hope Sunday’s matchup against the battered Dallas Cowboys will help them achieve that goal.
As Dallas walks into MetLife Stadium, they’ll be without several stars on their offense, including wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and second-year left tackle Tyler Guyton. Several other projected starters are dealing with their own nagging injuries as well.
However, the Jets are also banged up at several positions. New York is dealing with key injuries along the defensive line and on special teams.
As kickoff nears, the Jets and Cowboys have officially announced their complete inactive list for Sunday.
Jets Inactive List
- KR Kene Nwangwu
- CB Michael Carter II
- DT Leonard Taylor III
- TE Jelani Woods
- TE Stone Smartt
- OT Esa Pole
Notes:
- Nwangwu’s absence has been an underrated issue for the Jets this season. After recording a single return in Week 1, he has missed the last three games. Throughout his absence, the Jets have gone through three different returners – two have been released, while running back Braelon Allen suffered a serious knee injury, which placed him on injured reserve.
- Carter’s absence in the secondary opens the door for newly-acquired cornerback Jarvis Brownlee to get his first start in the Green and White. The former Tennessee Titan has experience playing in the nickel throughout his NFL career.
- With the Jets fielding just two starting tight ends on Sunday (Jeremy Ruckert and Mason Taylor), it’s a safe bet that New York will try to spread out a bad Cowboys defense. Dallas has the league’s worst unit in total yards and passing yards given up. Fielding an additional wide receiver allows the Jets to exploit that hole.
- Defensive end Jermaine Johnson is out for the third straight week. In his place, the Jets will continue to start former fourth-round edge rusher Micheal Clemons.
Cowboys Inactive List
- WR CeeDee Lamb
- OT Tyler Guyton
- WR KaVontae Turpin
- CB Caelen Carson
- DT Jay Toia
- DE Marshawn Kneeland
- RB Miles Sanders
- OG Tyler Booker
Notes:
- Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott shrugged off the plethora of injuries dealt to the offense last week in a 40-40 tie with the Green Bay Packers. This week, he’ll be without two offensive linemen and his top wideout.
- Dallas’ special teams unit will take a major hit on Sunday without KaVontae Turpin. The All-Pro returner is one of the most feared special teams players in the game, but is out for Week 5.
- While All-Pro guard Tyler Smith is not on the inactive list, he isn’t expected to start on Sunday. He will only play barring any concerns for the rest of the Cowboys’ offensive line.
