Since the offseason, New York Jets running back Breece Hall has frequently been mentioned as a possible trade candidate. Now, with the NFL trade deadline less than three days away, the question remains the same: Will Gang Green consider moving their 2022 second-round pick?
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Hall has garnered interest around the league, but the Jets are looking for a third-round pick in return should they deal the running back.
“The Jets have been getting calls on RB Breece Hall for a while, and while there is interest, New York is looking for at least a third-round pick in return,” Russini wrote.ย
In the final year of his rookie contract, Hall deserves plenty of credit for his performance this season. While the offensive lineโs strong play has certainly contributed, Hall has elevated key aspects of his game that once drew criticism.
His vision has been sharper than ever, his elusiveness has been at its peak, and through eight games, heโs looked every bit like a top-tier running back.
Through eight games, Hall is averaging 5.0 yards per carry, ranking ninth among running backs. His 18 rushes of 10 yards or more are the fourth-most in the league, and his 45.1% breakaway rate leads all players at the position this season.
While teams continue to call, the New York Jets appear unwilling to part with one of their few offensive bright spots. Unless an offer exceeds expectations, Breece Hall is expected to remain in green and white past the deadline.
Since joining the few Jets’ running backs who have thrown a touchdown passโjoining the immortal Curtis Martinโan even greater percentage of the team’s fandom wishes to see him stick around.
