According to The New York Post, New York Jets cornerback and special teamer Kris Boyd was shot and wounded in Midtown Manhattan early Sunday morning.

Sources told the Post that the cornerback is currently in critical condition and “clinging to life” at Bellevue Hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday morning on West 38th Street.

Boyd, 29, signed a one-year contract with the Jets this offseason. He was placed on season-ending injured reserve in August after suffering a shoulder injury during training camp.

The Texas product has spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, and Arizona Cardinals since entering the NFL as a seventh-round pick in 2019.

A Jets spokesperson told CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

Law enforcement says there have been no arrests made in relation to the shooting, and it is still an ongoing investigation.
