Armand Membou’s stellar rookie campaign left fans excited for what his future holds with the New York Jets.
Just one year into his NFL career, the league is already taking notice of his long-term capabilities. That’s how strong his rookie season was.
On Friday,ย ESPNโs Jeremy Fowlerย released his top-10 offensive tackle rankings, based on surveys of nearly 70 league executives, scouts, and coaches.
While Membou wasn’t slotted in the top 10 or as an honorable mention, he was one of seven other tackles to receive votes.
“One name to keep an eye on for future years: Jets RT Armand Membou,” Fowler added. “He can be the best run-blocker in the league,” per an NFL coordinator. “Just a big, long, powerful man.”
Membou started all 17 games at right tackle for the Jets during his rookie season after being selected with the No. 7 overall pick in last year’s draft.
He finished the year with an overall grade of 72.7 from Pro Football Focus, ranking 14th among 32 qualified right tackles. To boot, he just turned 22 and has freakish athleticism, owning a 9.89 Relative Athletic Score.
Ultimately, Membou’s ceiling is sky-high, as Fowler expressed via the intel he has received from scouts, coaches, and executives around the league.
At this time next year, he could very well finish in the upper half of the annual top 10 rankings that Fowler compiles.
The Jets’ offensive line as a whole still has some proving to do this season, but their future up front looks brighter than it has in quite some time.
