Will Kenyon Sadiq be ready to make plays in Week 1 after missing the majority of training camp?
The New York Jets seem to think so.
Speaking to the media on Thursday ahead of New York’s 2026 season opener against the Tennessee Titans, Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich spoke about Sadiq’s readiness for Week 1 after being sidelined due to a setback in his recovery from hernia surgery.
“I think Kenyon has done a very good job of integrating himself back in very quickly,” said Reich. “I know he’s looking forward to the opportunity to get out there, and we’re looking forward to it as well.”
Sadiq underwent hernia surgery in May. He returned in time for the start of training camp in July, but suffered a setback shortly after, sidelining him for the rest of camp and all three preseason games.
The Jets’ Wednesday injury report listed Sadiq as a full participant ahead of Sunday’s game, although the Jets did not actually practice, so his designation was an estimation.
Sadiq, 21, was the 16th overall pick in the first round of this year’s draft. New York selected the Oregon product with the Indianapolis Colts’ first-round selection, which was acquired in last year’s blockbuster Sauce Gardner trade.
Sadiq is one of the most athletic tight ends in NFL history, lighting up the combine with a 4.39 forty time, a 43.5-inch vertical jump, and a 133-inch broad jump at 6-foot-3 and 241 pounds.
Heading into Week 1, Sadiq will compete for snaps and targets with Mason Taylor, a second-round choice in last year’s draft who had a solid rookie season for New York.
