The verdict is in on several of the New York Jets’ injured players ahead of Week 1.

Speaking to the media Friday morning, head coach Aaron Glenn provided updates on the status of several Jets players for Week 1.

According to Glenn, edge rusher Joseph Ossai has been ruled out alongside wide receiver Tim Patrick, while cornerback D’Angelo Ponds and returner Kene Nwangwu are both doubtful.

Ossai, who signed a three-year deal with the Jets this offseason, sustained a foot injury during the team’s preseason finale after spending most of the summer on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list.

Missing him will be a tough blow for the Jets’ edge room to begin the season. He is expected to start this season and provide value as a high-level run defender off the edge, which the team lacked in 2025.

Rookie CB D’Angelo Ponds sustained a calf strain during one of the Jets’ first training camp practices this year. While he returned to practice drills this week, it appears that he isn’t yet ready to see the field.

Missing him will also be unfortunate for the team, as he is expected to be Gang Green’s starting slot cornerback, and this week, the Jets are facing off against Wan’Dale Robinson, who led the NFL in slot receiving yards last season.

Nwangwu is an interesting case as he wasn’t listed on the Jets’ first two injury reports. He has a history of hamstring issues, but when he is on the field, his impact is palpable on the return unit.

Perhaps Jamaal Pritchett, a Jets practice squad player who had two strong consecutive summers, will receive an elevation to take his spot on kick returns.

Without a doubt, the Jets’ injuries will put them at a disadvantage for Sunday against Tennessee.
