Leading up to Sunday’s Week 2 matchup between the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers, all the momentum has been on Gang Green’s side.
Well, New York’s good luck continues into the weekend.
The final injury reports are in, and the Packers could be without some key cogs, including starting offensive lineman Zach Bako-Bewele (questionable) and Aaron Banks (questionable), along with crucial defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness (questionable) and Javon Hargrave (doubtful).
Keep in mind, this is on top of being without running back Josh Jacobs and edge rusher Micah Parsons. Since losing Parsons to an ACL tear late in 2025, the Packers are 0-6 without him (including the game he exited, during which the Packers blew a lead following his injury), with the league’s worst point differential over that span.
Furthermore, without Jacobs in Week 1, the Packers generated under 70 rushing yards, and given the projected weather forecast for Sunday at MetLife Stadium, the rushing game will be crucial for both teams. With Jacobs sidelined, the Jets have the upper hand at RB, and it isn’t even close.
On the offensive line, Green Bay could be without both Bako-Bewele and Banks, which would hurt their entire offensive operation, especially a rushing attack that is already hurting without Jacobs.
Due to a knee injury, Bako-Bewele was limited for all three practices this week and is questionable for the game. The same goes for Banks, the Packers’ $77 million left guard, who missed the team’s season opener due to knee tendinitis that seemingly remains an issue.
It’s far from guaranteed that Banks will suit up, as he practiced as a limited participant all three days last week and didn’t take the field against Minnesota.
As for Van Ness and Hargrave, two key defensive line pieces, neither has cleared concussion protocol. There seems to be more optimism that Van Ness (questionable) will clear it before Sunday than for Hargrave, who is listed as doubtful.
Sunday’s clash is as close to a must-win for Green Bay as a Week 2 matchup can be. With the Jets fresh off a convincing 23-10 victory and now entering their home opener, the Packers’ injury report does them no favors.
