The New York Jets are slowly getting healthier.
The key word there is “slowly”. Some of New York’s key injuries are still lingering into Week 6, but they do have some reinforcements on the way back.
Head coach Aaron Glenn spoke to the media on Wednesday, providing injury updates. Glenn revealed that wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, who missed the last three games with a finger injury, had a procedure for the issue and remains “week to week”.
On a positive note, Glenn stated that the team expects to get rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. back on the practice field. Cooper was placed on injured reserve after Week 1 with a sprained ankle and is now eligible to return after missing the minimum of four games.
Running back Breece Hall (quad), guard Dylan Parham (knee), and edge rusher Joseph Ossai (ankle) will not practice on Wednesday and are considered week-to-week, per Glenn. Hall and Parham missed the last two games, while Ossai left the team’s Week 5 win after missing Weeks 1-2 and returning in Week 3.
Backup linebacker and special teamer Francisco “Kiko” Mauigoa is also expected to return to practice after missing the last three games with a quad issue.
On the New England Patriots side, the Jets’ rivals could be without running back TreVeyon Henderson and left tackle Will Campbell, two losses that would certainly hurt New England’s offense in the trenches. Against a Jets defense that just finished its Week 5 win with eight sacks and 56 rushing yards allowed to running backs, the Patriots would miss those pieces.
