Although the New York Jets may be playing a winless Miami Dolphins team today, it’s a must-win, so every advantage matters.

Unfortunately for New York, it looks like they will remain without one of their top offensive weapons.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jets running back Breece Hall is unlikely to play today as he continues recovering from a quad strain that has sidelined him for the last three games.

Rapoport notes that Hall could still work out before kickoff to see how he’s feeling, but it looks like the Jets will play it safe.

Hall suffered the quad strain in the team’s Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions, and he has been out ever since. This week, he didn’t practice Wednesday but was a limited participant Thursday and Friday, a big step in the right direction.

It’s hard to fault the Jets for playing it safe, especially when Braelon Allen has done an excellent job of holding down the fort in Hall’s absence. It would be wise for the Jets to hold him out today rather than rush him back into a substantial role right away, especially given Allen’s strong play over the past few weeks, which has turned many heads.

The good injury news for New York is that wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is slated to suit up after being out since Week 2. That should provide an ample boost for the Jets’ passing attack today, in a game where the team’s offense must put points on the board early to get ahead against a winless team.

Hall is still listed as questionable for today’s game, so he could play, but as Rapoport reports, it seems unlikely. Even if he did, it’d most likely be in a limited capacity.
