At 2-6 with one game before the NFL trade deadline, the New York Jets’ top players are emerging in trade speculation across the league.
One of those players is star running back Breece Hall.
Speaking to the media on Monday, though, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn shut down any trade talk regarding Hall.
“Guys, listen, Breece is still a part of this team. I understand how the noise happens when things like this happen, but I’ve said it before: We’re in the business of keeping good players, and he’s one of our better players. So Breece will still be here.”
Glenn was asked that question after Braelon Allen has emerged over the past few weeks in Hall’s absence. Allen kept his scorching hot streak alive against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, rushing for a career-high 147 yards on 21 carries.
Hall ignited trade rumors with a cryptic social media message before deactivating his X account days later. However, according to Glenn, he will remain with the team beyond the trade deadline.
Unless the Jets get valuable draft capital for Hall, it makes sense to retain him. He signed a three-year extension this offseason, and it was deserved. Allen’s stretch is encouraging, but that doesn’t mean the Jets should suddenly move one of their most established offensive playmakers because of it.
Hall remains sidelined with a quad injury, but he should return this week against the Kansas City Chiefs after being a surprising inactive for Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
