Chad Johnson is a certified Zach Wilson fan

โ€œI captivated the guy who captivated a thousand guys.โ€

Those words were spoken by Michael Scott, but after Sundayโ€™s 27-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson could very well say the same thing.

Following Wilson’s 297-yard performance and first career win, ex-wide receiver Chad โ€œOchocincoโ€ Johnson, one of the great pass-catchers in recent NFL history, shouted out the 22-year-old passer on Twitter.

The young signal-caller grew up watching Johnson shred defenses regularly โ€” now heโ€™s getting ringing compliments from him publicly. Wilson was two years old when Johnson debuted for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2001.

Johnson has consistently voiced his support for Wilson – and teammate Elijah Moore – throughout the past few months.

Wilson turned many heads with his performance against Tennessee. As he is quickly learning, one thing about being a starting quarterback in the country’s biggest media market is that while the scrutiny is amplified, so is the praise.

While Wilson wasnโ€™t flawless in the victory, he was finally able to consistently flash the big-play ability that got him drafted second overall back in April. Combine that with a come-from-behind overtime victory, and that qualifies as โ€œgreatโ€ by most peopleโ€™s standards โ€”ย  including Johnsonโ€™s.

Wilson finished 21-of-34 for 297 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He will look to build off this breakout performance next Sunday in London against the Atlanta Falcons (9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network).

Itโ€™s a safe bet that die-hard Wilson fan โ€œOchocincoโ€ will be watching.
