Tyreek Hill pays no mind to the New York Jets during Miami Dolphins introduction

Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill had his introductory press conference with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday afternoon.

As New York Jets fans are well aware, Hill apparently came very close to donning green and white. The Jets had a deal in place with Kansas City, as did Miami, but the Chiefs gave Hill his choice of where he wanted to go, and Hill chose the Dolphins over New York.

Hill was asked during his press conference about how close he was to joining the Jets. His answer surely won’t rub off well on Jets fans.

“Who? The Jets? … I knew I was going to pick Miami no matter what,” Hill said. “I’m basically from here, I’m here all the time. This is home.”

More details regarding the Jets’ involvement in the Hill sweepstakes emerged on Thursday.

According to Joe Schad of Palm Beach Post, Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says the Jets were the first team to work out a trade with Kansas City for Hill. The Dolphins came into the picture afterward, at which point Hill chose Miami.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo echoed Schad’s sentiment. Garafolo says the Jets and Chiefs reached an agreement on Monday, and the Jets got to work on a contract extension with Hill. Miami stepped in afterward, and Garafolo says it was then “only a matter of time” before Hill became a Dolphin.

It’s a stunning turn of events for general manager Joe Douglas and the Jets’ brass, who went from planning on welcoming in the most expensive superstar addition in franchise history to having to figure out how they will stop him twice a year.
