As the New York Jets launched into the 2024 season, all eyes were on Aaron Rodgers and the lingering effects of his Achilles tear from Week 1 of last season.

The 40-year-old quarterback has silenced doubts with a stellar start, proving that he remains a force in his 19th NFL season. However, the four-time MVP says he still deals with some lingering effects of the injury.

While addressing the media on Wednesday, Rodgers was asked if there are any lingering effects regarding his Achilles injury. “I can’t say I’m bereft of some difficulties with the Achilles,” Rodgers responded. “But it’s a process. I feel better [from] Week 1 to Week 2, Week 2 to Week 3, and then we got a nice little gift there with the long weekend, so I feel better. I said after Week 1 I felt like I was going to progress and be able to move around a little bit more, I did that maybe a little bit against Tennessee and then obviously moved around a lot more effectively in Week 3.”

During the first three weeks of the season, Rodgers has displayed aspects of his vintage form, particularly last Thursday when he completed 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
The Jets’ grueling schedule to start the season, featuring three games in 11 days, posed a significant challenge for Rodgers and his recovering Achilles. Rodgers has weathered the storm admirably; entering Week 4, Rodgers ranks fourth among quarterbacks in EPA per play (0.25) and fifth in Pro Football Focus’ overall grade (84.5).
Rodgers and the Jets’ offense look to continue progressing this Sunday as the Jets host the Denver Broncos.
