According to public court records, former New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will plead guilty to criminal charges.
It remains unknown which charges he is pleading guilty to after being charged with a felony count of battery resulting in serious bodily injury and three misdemeanor charges
The charges stem from an altercation in October 2025, while he was in Indianapolis for his game assignment as a color commentator with FOX.
While Sanchez was stabbed and sustained serious injuries, he is accused of being the instigator. Allegedly, a man, later identified as 69-year-old truck driver Perry Tole, told police he was delivering food when Sanchez said he needed to move his vehicle.
Tole told law enforcement that Sanchez began to threaten and attack him. He said that he tried to pepper spray the quarterback, but his attempt was unsuccessful, and he took further measures, defending himself by stabbing Sanchez.
Following the incident, Sanchez was let go by FOX.
The trial was set for Sept. 8, but since Sanchez has pleaded guilty, the trial will be canceled, and a sentencing hearing has been requested for November.
Sanchez, 39, spent four seasons with the Jets (2009-12) while leading the team to a 33-29 record and completing 55.1% of his passes for 12,092 yards (6.5 yards per attempt), 68 touchdowns, and 69 interceptions.
Most notably, of course, he led the Jets to back-to-back AFC championship runs during his first two seasons in the league (2009 and 2010). Since then, the Jets have yet to return to the playoffs.
His plea deal currently awaits the judge’s approval.
