For the longest time, the New York Jets have struggled to play complementary football.
However, in the eyes of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, Gang Green has developed into a complete football team.
Speaking to the media this week ahead of Sunday’s game, LaFleur praised the Jets for how well-rounded their squad is.
Green Bay and New York will face off on Sunday in the Jets’ home opener at MetLife Stadium. The Jets are coming off a convincing 23-10 Week 1 win, while Green Bay fell 39-22 to the Minnesota Vikings in their season opener.
The Packers are also 0-6 without star edge rusher Micah Parsons (including the game he was injured in), who will be absent for Sunday’s clash, giving the Jets an immediate advantage. Green Bay is on a six-game losing streak dating back to last season and has the league’s worst point differential over that span.
While the Jets need to prove these next few weeks that they are capable of hanging with competitive teams, Week 1 was certainly encouraging and didn’t expose any weak points on the Jets’ roster.
Entering Sunday, New York has the momentum on their side while the Packers have been sputtering. We will see how the matchup unfolds, but the Jets’ roster is much more complete than it was in 2025, and Week 1 showed that.
A New York win would be significant, giving the Jets their first 2-0 start since 2015, while a Packers loss would spark outrage among their fanbase. For Green Bay, it feels like about as much of a “must-win” game as a Week 2 contest could be. On the Jets’ side, coming away with a win could be crucial in building early-season momentum.
