Even the New York Jets likely didn’t expect this when they dealt two of their best players at the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

We’re only two-plus weeks into the 2026 NFL season, but the Jets’ outlook for the 2027 NFL draft is getting peachier and peachier by the day.

According to Tankathon, the Jets currently possess the third and eighth overall picks in the 2027 draft, via the Indianapolis Colts (0-2) and the Green Bay Packers (1-2), respectively.

Obviously, looking at the raw draft standings in September is relatively meaningless. One win separates the first overall pick from the 24th.

What carries a little more weight, though, are projections of what is expected to happen throughout the rest of the season. In that regard, the Jets’ future is getting increasingly bright as their rivals’ present becomes increasingly bleak.

According to PerThirtySix’s NFL projections, which are based on Elo ratings, the Colts are expected to win 6.6 games, the seventh-worst projection, while the Packers are expected to win 7.1 games, the ninth-worst.

The Jets themselves are slotted directly between the Colts and Packers with a 6.6-win projection of their own, which ranks eighth-worst.

This, of course, would give the Jets three top-10 picks.

While the Jets are hoping their own first-round pick lands much lower than eighth, the projections for Indianapolis and Green Bay are noteworthy given how much their outlooks have shifted since the season began.

In Vegas, the Colts had a pre-season over-under of 8.5 wins, while the Packers’ line was set at 9.5. Both teams have struggled so much to open the year that their win projections have already dropped significantly.

Indianapolis is dealing with the ramifications of quarterback Daniel Jones’ declining efficiency after an Achilles tear, while its defense has been the league’s worst. Green Bay is battling countless injuries and has suffered two three-score losses in three games; their only win, of course, was a comeback against the Jets.

The Jets will try to get back above .500 with a road win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Colts will look for their first win with a home game against a desperate Houston Texans team.
