After an embarrassing loss last week to the previously winless Miami Dolphins, who also hadn’t held a lead all season, the New York Jets sit at 2-5 entering today’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Jets have been a competitive team this season, but that isn’t enough. They continue to struggle to make the big plays down the stretch and avoid shooting themselves in the foot.

Las Vegas, meanwhile, got off to a scorching 3-0 start before losing their past four.

Can the Jets put together their first complete performance in weeks today? Here’s everything you need to know ahead of kickoff.

How to watch

  • Time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey

Weather

For the second straight week, weather shouldn’t be much of a factor in East Rutherford.

Temperatures are expected to be around 61 degrees at kickoff. Mostly sunny skies are forecast throughout the afternoon, with a zero percent chance of precipitation.

It looks like an excellent afternoon for some November football.

Uniforms

The Jets will wear their all-green uniforms for today’s matchup, combining their green helmets, green jerseys, and green pants.

Meanwhile, the Raiders will rock their road uniforms, featuring silver helmets, white jerseys, and silver pants.

Injury report

Jets:

  • OL Max Mitchell (concussion): Out
  • EDGE Joseph Ossai (ankle): Out
  • DL T’Vondre Sweat (knee): Out
  • EDGE David Bailey (groin): Doubtful
  • RB Breece Hall (quad): Questionable
  • OL Dylan Parham (knee): Questionable

The Jets enter today shorthanded along their defensive front. They will be without David Bailey and Joseph Ossai on the outside, while IDL T’Vondre Sweat has been placed on injured reserve, which is a huge loss.

Offensively, Breece Hall remains questionable, although NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says that he will not suit up today. If that stands, today will mark his fifth straight game missed.

Dylan Parham, who has missed four games, is also questionable with a knee injury. If he returns, it will be a huge boost for the Jets’ offensive line.

Raiders:

  • DE Patrick Johnson (stinger): Out
  • TE Carter Runyon (foot): Out
  • WE Jack Bech (forearm): Questionable
  • IOL: Jackson Powers-Johnson (back): Questionable

Coming into today, the Raiders are relatively healthy. Patrick Johnson and Carter Runyon have been ruled out, while Jack Bech and Jackson Powers-Johnson are both questionable.

The good news for Las Vegas is that star tight end Brock Bowers carries no injury designation after being limited on Wednesday with a calf issue.

What to watch for

Can the Jets show down Klint Kubiak’s offense?

Kubiak’s offense will test New York’s defense, both against Aaron Glenn schematically, and because the Jets’ defensive line has struggled mightily to generate consistent pressure this season.

The Raiders rank seventh in passing DVOA this season, and with the Jets at a further disadvantage due to missing multiple starters across the defensive line, Glenn will need to generate pressure without sacrificing too many bodies in coverage.

Will the Jets finally finish drives?

The Jets have scored touchdowns on just 45.0% of red-zone drives, the second-worst rate in the league, ahead of only the Arizona Cardinals (42.9%).

Frank Reich’s offense has moved the ball, but the unit continues to stall inside the 20-yard line. To come away with a win today, that will need to change against Las Vegas.

Can Braelon Allen keep rolling?

With Hall reportedly not expected to play, Braelon Allen should have another chance to lead New York’s backfield.

Allen has been excellent in recent weeks. Since Week 4, Allen ranks second among RBs in rushing yards (354), second in yards after contact (303), and first in missed tackles forced (22).

Keeping that hot streak rolling into today would be huge for the Jets’ offense and help keep it multi-faceted.

Score prediction

  • Raiders 24, Jets 17

The Jets have enough talent to win this game, but their recent stretch has been far from encouraging. That’s also true of the Raiders, though, as they’ve lost their past four games.

With the defensive injuries and continued struggles to finish drives, it’s tough to predict a win for Gang Green.

Kubiak’s offense makes plays, which should be enough for the Raiders to leave MetLife Stadium with a win, while the Jets sustain another close loss.
