New York Jets backup quarterback Joe Flacco still considers himself a starter, which is great news for Sam Darnold.
Show me a human who doesn’t want in the game at the greatest moment, and I’ll show you wasted money. Joe Douglas couldn’t agree more.
On a Thursday Zoom call with reporters, New York Jets backup quarterback Joe Flacco experienced his first taste of the media that’ll be covering the South Jersey kid this coming season, and he didn’t bat an eye.
Flacco made it clear that he believes he’s still an NFL starting quarterback.
“Oh, for sure…. I obviously still believe that I’m a starting quarterback,” Flacco said with authority. “And, you never know what three years down the line is going to look like. I still have that confidence & have the want-to to do that.
“My goal is to help the team out, but I still believe I’m a starting quarterback.”
Flacco, 35, is an Audubon, NJ native whose family is mainly housed in the South Jersey area that neighbors Philadelphia, PA. While the location of the Jets in proximity wasn’t a great selling point, he did concede it doesn’t hurt to be closer to his extended family.
The much more critical matter deals with the other quarterback on the roster, the one from California, and the idea Flacco still possesses that drive to want to do great things on the field can only serve as a bonus for Sam Darnold.
