Losing Christian McCaffrey from your fantasy football team at this very moment would qualify as a lost season. Guys like Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott and perhaps even Derrick Henry could also potentially destroy an entire season.

Then there’s Josh Rosen, the juggernaut quarterback whose rise to Pro Football Hall of Fame stature is so beyond obvious it’s not even worth discussing. At least that’s how New York Jets legend Nick Mangold is viewing things.

A fantasy football team has been devastated by the Rosen cut. What a Mangold thing to say.

Rosen, 23, was the Arizona Cardinals first-round pick (10th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. After a tough rookie season and subsequent offseason that saw the Cards draft Kyler Murray, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins.

Suddenly, he finds himself without a job after just two seasons in the league.

Miami had been rumored to be fielding calls on the youngster, but apparently, nothing materialized. The team selected Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth-overall pick in this offseason’s virtual NFL draft, which means Rosen was yet again supplanted by a younger rookie arm.

Rosen finishes his Dolphins career with just 567 yards and one touchdown to five interceptions in three games started (six games played).

If Mangold continues to hold out hope for the UCLA product, he might just find himself in the fantasy football basement for years to come. Hopefully, it’s not a dynasty league. Rostering a Dolphin as a Jets legend is a risk in itself.

This is just another example of Mangold being Mangold. Any chance he gets to burn an AFC East rival, he’ll take it with a dance and a smile.
