Blewett’s Blitz dissects the New York Jets Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at MetLife Stadium, and nothing about it is pretty.
What a disaster. From Joe Flacco‘s first pass until Kliff Kingsbury‘s gutsy fourth-and-1 call in the second half, the New York Jets could do nothing right against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday in the swamps of Northern New Jersey.
The Jets’ 30-10 loss to the Cards in Week 5 action wasn’t just Le’Veon Bell‘s final game with the team, it was also a performance that needs plenty of dissection from every angle.
Offensively, everybody already understands the deal. On the very first play of the game, Flacco pulled off a great play-action on an outsize zone fake only to throw behind a wide-open Jeff Smith who’s crossing the middle of the field on a dig.
Totaling just 285 yards, Adam Gase’s offense fell just 211 yards shy of the Cardinals’ 496-yard total. That brings us to the defense.
Gregg Williams’s unit wasn’t any better than Gase’s. In fact, on Chase Edmonds‘s 29-yard touchdown run, Williams made a critical mistake that allowed Edmonds to scamper untouched to the house.
All told, the Jets defense allowed Kyler Murray to throw for 380 yards and DeAndre Hopkins to finish with 131 yards and a touchdown on six receptions.
While the positives were few and far between, there is some light after watching the entirety of the film. Blewett’s Blitz is back which means he rolls through the New York Jets’ latest disaster.
