Blewett’s Blitz breaks down the New York Jets victory over the Cleveland Browns, one that featured a defense flying around the field.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The once-0-13 New York Jets are now on a winning streak. After knocking off the Los Angeles Rams on the road, the Jets defeated the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium.
Sam Darnold put forth another workmanlike effort. He wasn’t spectacular, but the USC product did do enough to win the game. What happens with Darnold moving forward will be a huge topic of discussion this offseason.
Mekhi Becton handled Myles Garrett—for the most part. Although Garrett did beat him a couple of times, the rookie left tackle held his own.
What really stood out in this one was the Jets’ defensive line. John Franklin-Myers picked up another sack, as he lined up out of the 3-tech. Nathan Shepherd added another sack to his season tally, as did Frankie Luvu.
Veteran Tarell Basham put up a tremendous game. Not only did he pick up a sack, but he also recovered a fumble, forced two fumbles, registered 1.5 tackles for loss, hit the quarterback three times, and finished with five total tackles (two solo).
