Here are the jersey numbers that the New York Jets’ 2021 rookies are rocking at their first minicamp practice.
At long last, we know what number Zach Wilson will be wearing as a New York Jet – at least for now.
Rookie jersey numbers are subject to change later in the offseason (remember Leonard Williams’ #62 or Robby Anderson’s #83?), but with the Jets’ rookies taking the practice field for the first time today, we have our first look at their debut jersey numbers.
Here they are, according to Jets X-Factor’s Robby Sabo:
- Zach Wilson: #2
- Alijah Vera-Tucker: #75
- Elijah Moore: #8
- Michael Carter: #32
- Michael Carter II: #30
- Jamien Sherwood: #44
- Jason Pinnock: #41
- Brandin Echols: #25
- Hamsah Nasirildeen: #45
- Jonathan Marshall: #96
Sabo also added the numbers of notable undrafted free agents Isaiah Dunn, Chris Naggar, and Kenny Yeboah: 36, 1, and 48, respectively.
Carter and Carter II couldn’t make things any easier with Carter (the one without the II) taking a number that has a two in it, while Carter II took a number that does not have a two. Help us out, guys.
Nevertheless, Carter will have to change at some point as No. 32 is currently being worn by Ashtyn Davis. He’s not the only one with a number that is already taken – Echols’ No. 25 is owned by Ty Johnson while Dunn’s No. 36 is owned by Josh Adams.
Vera-Tucker and Moore appear to be retaining their numerals from college, but every other player is rocking a new set of digits.
Wilson wore No. 1 in high school before switching to No. 11 for his freshman year at BYU. He switched back to No. 1 for his sophomore and junior seasons.
Now, Wilson’s No. 2 jersey with “New York” across the chest will have a chance to become iconic across the Tri-State area (if he does indeed retain the number).
You missed one more rookie who will be changing #s. AVT rocking 75, same # being worn by fellow Trojan OL Chuma Edoga
