Carl Lawson is ecstatic about being a New York Jet

From a fan’s perspective, it can go a long way to know that your favorite team’s players want to be there.

That holds especially true when it comes to star players, and New York Jets defensive end Carl Lawson most definitely qualifies as one of the team’s star players.

Unlike a certain box safety in Seattle who shall remain nameless, this defensive stud is making it clear that he’s overjoyed to be a Jet.

On Saturday afternoon, the team’s social media team tweeted out an amusing picture of five fans, all sporting the same custom-made T-shirt. This shirt depicted the recognizable close-up image of Lawson in a Jets beanie, smirking.

Fans who have seen the original video this image stems from – recorded by Lawson moments after it was announced he would be signing with the Jets – will already know that the former Cincinnati Bengal explodes into the iconic “J-E-T-S” chant just moments later.

The shirts are fantastic, but the cherry on top was Lawson himself responding to the photo and saying, “Man I love being a jet [sic].”

This isn’t the first time that Lawson has expressed his love for being a Jet. In a March interview with the team, Lawson said that Jets fans would be getting “an explosive, dynamic pass rusher that loves being a Jet. I think that’s the biggest part: I love being a Jet.”

Making this even sweeter is the fact that Lawson already appears to be thriving on his new team.

On Friday, he created waves among the Jets fanbase by recording three sacks on the very first day of training camp. Of course, it’s only camp and there’s still nobody wearing pads yet, but three sacks are still three sacks.

“Everything’s been top-notch, from coaches to training staff,” Lawson told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday. “It’s been a great adjustment.”

Also exciting for Jets fans is that it would seem Lawson more than understands the importance of building chemistry with his fellow defensive linemen.

“We all work together to go hunt. You know, it’s like chasing a chicken; you don’t want to chase it by yourself, you want to corner it with a bunch of people.”

There’s a certain chicken up in Buffalo that really needs catching — its name is Josh Allen.

Jets fans hope that Lawson will continue to show out as training camp progresses and provide them with some much-needed hope off the edge. Regardless, it already goes a very long way just to know that he’s happy to be there.
