Atlanta Falcons favored over New York Jets

New York Jets fans seem to be viewing their team’s London matchup with the Atlanta Falcons as an extremely winnable game, but oddsmakers do not agree.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Falcons are 2.5-point favorites heading into Sunday’s game.

This marks the fifth consecutive week to begin the season that the Jets are underdogs. New York is 1-3 against the spread, as is Atlanta.

Atlanta has a league-worst point differential of minus-50 this season. In Week 5, they will be without their best skill position player (wide receiver Calvin Ridley) and their best defensive back (strong safety Erik Harris).

Ridley is responsible for over a quarter of the Falcons’ receiving yards this season (25.8%). Harris leads all NFL safeties with five passes defended – and the Falcons’ secondary is still one of the worst in the NFL, contributing to the defense allowing a league-worst 120.1 passer rating. Without Harris, the unit is in dire straits.

The Falcons will also be without key rotational defensive tackle Marlon Davidson, starting slot receiver Russell Gage, and backup slot cornerback Avery Williams, who was set to start in place of injured first-string slot corner Isaiah Oliver.

The injury news is more positive on the Jets’ side. Wide receiver Elijah Moore is poised to return after missing the previous game with a concussion. Cornerback Brandin Echols will also be good to go after leaving early in Week 4 with a concussion.

Tight end Tyler Kroft, wide receiver Jeff Smith, safety Adrian Colbert, and safety Marcus Maye will sit this one out for New York.

Atlanta and New York will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
