It is officially the “Debate Over Madden Ratings” portion of the offseason.
Many would consider this the rock bottom of football discourse, but the silver lining is that it means training camp is just a couple of weeks away. The Jets’ veterans will report to training camp in 15 days (July 28).
In the meantime, Madden ratings are the breadcrumbs that will hold us over. The game will slowly unveil official ratings over the next few weeks, but leaks are already on their way out.
The X account @MUTLeaksXXVII unveiled the game’s top 100-rated players, a list that included only two Jets. In addition, rookie ratings have been revealed.
Here are the initial Madden NFL 27 ratings for the Jets’ top five draft picks in 2026:
- EDGE David Bailey: 81
- TE Kenyon Sadiq: 74
- WR Omar Cooper Jr.: 75
- CB D’Angelo Ponds: 75
- DT Darrell Jackson Jr.: 72
David Bailey’s number is certainly encouraging. Seeing a rookie debut with an 81 rating is rare.
Obviously, Madden ratings aren’t necessarily the best tool for evaluating real, breathing football players (something the Jets should know quite well), but Bailey’s 81 mark is an indicator of his strong analytical profile, both in terms of his athletic tools and his college production.
On the other hand, Kenyon Sadiq landed on the lower end for a 16th overall pick, earning a 74 rating. Considering that Sadiq likely has some of the best athletic ratings in the game among tight ends, it shows that the Madden ratings team agrees that Sadiq still needs plenty of development with his technique and fundamentals.
Wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. and cornerback D’Angelo Ponds both received 75 ratings. It’s a solid mark for Cooper, the 30th overall pick, and an even more impressive number for Ponds, the 50th overall pick.
The Jets will be asking a lot from their rookie class this season, so all of these players will have ample opportunities to play their way into higher ratings.
