Are Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh the right guys to turn around the New York Jets?
The unimaginable has happened. (Or, more appropriately, the imaginable has happened in an unimaginable period of time.)
New York Jets fans are now questioning whether or not head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas are the right men for the job. A 54-13 blowout loss at the hands of Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots will force that question into reality.
Zach Wilson left the game in the second quarter via a knee injury—something that will keep him out of action for 2-4 weeks—while Saleh’s coaching staff did some puzzling things from a strategic standpoint.

Moreover, the Jets defense didn’t have much of a chance thanks to its linebacker group. Douglas drafting not one but two collegiate safeties with the intention of turning them into NFL linebackers helped place the Jets in an awful situation against Josh McDaniels’s smart Pats offense.
Without C.J. Mosley and Jarrad Davis, rookie Jamien Sherwood and Quincy Williams were simply overmatched. They didn’t react nearly in time to varying rushing calls and oftentimes displayed incredibly poor awareness.
Then again, it’s not really their fault. They shouldn’t have been put in this situation.
It’s amazing when pondered just a bit. A mere two months ago, the entirety of Jets land was celebrating the Saleh hire and the new direction the organization was seemingly headed.
Today, just three weeks after the Jets knocked off the Tennessee Titans in Northern New Jersey, a 1-5 team is looking to rebound against a hot Cincinnati Bengals team without its starting quarterback.
