Hamsah Nasirildeen returns ahead of New York Jets-Indianapolis Colts
The New York Jets announced a few roster moves ahead of their Thursday night clash with the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9.
Linebacker Hamsah Nasirildeen has been activated off of injured reserve. The rookie missed the Jets’ previous three games with a knee injury.
Nasirildeen takes the roster spot of edge rusher Bryce Huff, who is being placed on injured reserve with a back injury. Huff missed the Jets’ Week 8 game against the Bengals and will now miss at least the next three games . The earliest he could return is Week 12 when the Jets visit the Houston Texans.
We've placed DL Bryce Huff on IR and activated LB Hamsah Nasirildeen.
We've also elevated QB Josh Johnson and DL Jabari Zuniga from the practice squad.

Edge rusher Jabari Zuniga and quarterback Josh Johnson have been chosen as this week’s two practice-squad elevations.
Zuniga made his season debut in Week 8 and popped off the screen with his first NFL sack, knocking the ball loose from Joe Burrow in the process. He didn’t even have a quarterback hit in eight games as a rookie, let alone a sack.
It was a huge step forward for the second-year defender, who Joe Douglas chose with the 79th overall pick in the third round of the 2020 draft. Zuniga played 21 defensive snaps in the victory, collecting two tackles against the run in addition to his sack.

Johnson will be the Jets’ backup quarterback for the second consecutive week.
In Week 8, Johnson played five snaps in relief of Mike White after White briefly left the game in the third quarter following a hard hit. Johnson completed 2-of-4 passes for 17 yards and one first down to help finish off an 82-yard drive that culminated in a field goal.
The elevation of Johnson likely means that Joe Flacco will be inactive for his second straight game since re-joining the Jets.
Johnson and Zuniga have each hit the season-long limit of two elevations from the practice squad, which means they must be signed to the active roster to appear in another regular season game this year.
