Robert Saleh plans to reveal the Jets’ Week 10 starting quarterback later this week
As Zach Wilson makes his way back from a PCL injury and Mike White aims to continue his momentum, the world waits in agony as the New York Jets decide who to start at quarterback against the Buffalo Bills in Week 10.
Head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media on Monday and discussed some of the team’s plans and current thoughts regarding the quarterback debate.
The main takeaway for Jets fans is this: Saleh says he will announce the Jets’ starter on Wednesday, as he wants the starting quarterback to take all of the first-team practice reps throughout the week.
Saleh says the #Jets will have a decision on the QB on Wednesday – they want whoever is going to start to get all the reps with the starters during the week.
(And, yes, Saleh says he WILL announce Wed who the starter will be.)

Saleh says that the Jets “for sure” plan to start Wilson “if he is fully healthy,” but he cannot guarantee that Wilson will achieve that status in time to start this week. The coach also makes it clear that the team is in no rush to bring Wilson back.

“If he’s not fully healthy … it’d be irresponsible of us to throw him out there,” Saleh said.

Saleh hopes that in addition to Wilson and White, fellow quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Joe Flacco can join them as full participants in this week’s practices. Both quarterbacks are healthy, but Flacco is still looking to get involved after two consecutive weeks as a healthy scratch on gameday.

Johnson has hit his season-long limit of two elevations from the practice squad. If he is to appear in any more games, the Jets must sign him to the active roster.
Finally, Saleh made sure to praise White for the job that he has done in taking advantage of the opportunities he has been given.
"I just know as it goes from day-to day and game-to-game, I just think it's really cool that Mike was able to take advantage of this opportunity"
