Zach Wilson is embracing the jokes that come with being a franchise quarterback
The big news for the New York Jets on Wednesday was the updated status of rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. Still recovering from his PCL injury suffered in Week 7, Wilson will remain sidelined this week while Joe Flacco starts in his place against the Miami Dolphins.
Wilson still seems to be in good spirits if his social media activity is any indication.
On Wednesday, the SportsCenter Twitter account shared a video of a young quarterback prospect (apparently from the 2030 quarterback class based on the video’s caption) running through some drills while showcasing impressive velocity and movement skills – looking a lot like Wilson with his ability to smoothly deliver off-platform throws.
A fan reshared the video and joked, “Zach Wilson’s rehab appears to be ahead of schedule.”
Wilson playfully quote-tweeted the tongue-in-cheek jab with the response, “Feeling good!”

Upon returning, the main goal for Wilson will be improving his accuracy in the short and intermediate areas of the field – just like the ones that we see the young stud in the video pulling off.
Wilson’s deep passing has been just fine. He currently ranks sixth-best out of 35 qualified quarterbacks with an adjusted completion percentage (which accounts for drops) of 52.0% on throws that traveled at least 20 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.
It is everything beneath 20 yards where Wilson is having trouble.
On throws that traveled 10-to-19 yards downfield, Wilson owns an adjusted completion percentage of only 55.3%. That ranks 32nd out of 35 qualifiers.
When attempting passes that traveled 0-to-9 yards downfield, Wilson has an adjusted completion percentage of 78.0%, which ranks 34th out of 35.
Wilson’s next possible return date is Nov. 28, when the Jets pay a visit to the Houston Texans.
