Rex Ryan says he talked to Robert Saleh
It appears the beef between current and former head coaches of the New York Jets has reached a peaceful conclusion.
Former Jets head coach Rex Ryan made headlines went he blasted current Jets head coach Robert Saleh on ESPN last week. Ryan called Saleh’s defense “horrendous” and said his team “doesn’t play with any damn heart.”
Ryan also lambasted Saleh’s background and proclaimed that Saleh should never be compared to him, saying that he takes the comparisons between himself and Saleh “personal.”
Saleh’s response wasn’t necessarily cookie-cutter.
“Obviously, if it’s that personal for him, he knows where to find me, ” Saleh said.
It appears that Ryan did indeed find Saleh – but no cage match was held.
Instead, it looks like the two men had a productive conversation, according to Ryan.
Ryan revealed on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown that he got a chance to talk it out with Saleh, saying that he was “blown away” by him and that “he’s got a direction for this football team.”

“The more I talked to him, the more I was impressed with Robert Saleh,” Ryan said. “Number one, taking my call, and all that, speaks volumes about him … we put that stuff behind us. But it’s about the future of this team. And I’m just telling you something, this guy’s got a great plan. And, I think they got it right.”
Saleh will look to steer his Jets in the right direction this afternoon at 1 p.m. ET as the 3-7 Miami Dolphins pay a visit to MetLife Stadium while carrying a two-game winning streak.
