Tyreek Hill would undoubtedly become the most potent offensive playmaker the New York Jets have had in a long time.

Despite a generally positive offseason, New York Jets fans have beseeched general manager Joe Douglas to upgrade the team’s receiving cabinet. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Douglas could be ready to make that fateful move and then some.

Reports from Schefter indicate that Kansas City Chiefs superstar is likely on the move from the Midwest and that a pair of AFC East teams lead the bidding. Schefter has declared that Hill is “likely to wind up as a Jet or (Miami) Dolphin.”

Connor Hughes of The Athletic not only confirmed the Jets’ interest but hinted that the Jets are preparing a sizable package to obtain the superstar receiver, declaring that New York “won’t be outbid” and that a metropolitan arrival will hinge on Hill’s preference.

Such a package would likely include one of the two first-round picks the Jets own in the top 10 or at least one of the first five they have in the opening 69.

Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson has reported that the Chiefs will seek “two first-round draft picks and more.”

In response to the rumors, Jets running back Michael Carter made a public outreach to Hill on Twitter.

The Jets are hopeful for what 2021 second-round pick Elijah Moore can bring to the table and the team was also able to bring last season’s breakout star Braxton Berrios back on an affordable deal.

But further firepower is undoubtedly needed to bring the Zach Wilson era to its next steps. Both Moore and expensive free agent arrival Corey Davis dealt with injuries last season while the end of the New York line has likely come for another second-round choice, Denzel Mims, who failed to find a spot in the receiver’s rotation.

Veteran slot man Jamison Crowder has already left, having signed with the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

In a sign of unsustainable offensive progress—or lack thereof—New York has not boasted a 1,000-yard receiver since Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker each accomplished the feat in 2015.

Hill, on the other hand, ranks in the top ten in receptions (479, 8th), receiving yards (6,630, 7th), and touchdowns (56) since entering the league as a fifth-round pick out of West Alabama in 2016. In comparison, current Carolina Panther Robby Anderson leads the Jets in each category with 207 catches, 3,059 yards, and 20 touchdowns.
