New York Jets rumored to have trade interest in Denver Broncos edge rusher Bradley Chubb
The NFL trade deadline is one day away (Tuesday, November 1 at 4 p.m. ET), and the rumor mill is beginning to spin.
According to NBC’s Peter King, the New York Jets are interested in trading for Denver Broncos edge rusher Bradley Chubb.
But the Jets are not alone in their interest.
In an article posted on Monday morning, King wrote, “A well-plugged-in GM told me over the weekend the Jets and Dolphins are interested, and interested enough to consider dealing a first-rounder for Chubb. But to make that deal for a significant price, Miami or New York, or any team, would have to have a deal done with Chubb beyond this year.”

Could this be the second iteration of the Jets and Dolphins’ duel for Tyreek Hill?
The Jets being interested in Chubb is rather surprising. We know Robert Saleh and the Jets love their defensive line depth, but that unit is thriving. Bigger needs lie at positions such as offensive tackle, offensive guard, safety, and possibly linebacker.
Plus, the Jets already have invested an enormous amount of money and draft capital into the defensive line. Carl Lawson and John Franklin-Myers are on sizable contracts (although the Jets can escape those after the year). Quinnen Williams is due for a big extension in the near future. Jermaine Johnson was just selected in the first round.
Regardless, if the Jets did add Chubb, it would raise the ceiling of their defense to an entirely new level. According to this chart (via ESPN’s Seth Walder), Chubb owned the third-best pass rush win rate among edge rushers entering Week 8, trailing only Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons.
Chubb, 26, was a first-round pick out of NC State in 2018. He has 26 sacks, 58 quarterback hits, and 6 forced fumbles in 49 career games (per-17 game averages: 9 sacks, 20 hits, 2 forced fumbles). Injuries are a concern for Chubb, who has missed 24 out of 73 possible games in his career. Chubb has not missed a game in 2022, though.
Stay tuned.

This is interesting, and it tells me something about what they think they are getting for the money they are paying JFM AND Lawson. One thing I know is tough for fans, is that in order for the team to get better they have to move on from guys who seem to be “building blocks” or players that should stay in favor of guys who can just do more. My favorite CB, is an example. Everybody was happy to have him as the #2 but clearly he’s just not good enough. I’m not saying Lawson or JFM are in that category but the question has to be asked, do they have limitations? Their combined contracts are expensive. Would it make sense to bring in somebody more dynamic and move on from those 2? Only they know but I warn fans, don’t fall in love with this improving group. The goal isn’t to be better, the goal is to win it all.
That said, I don’t know how this helps with the 3 boneheaded INT’s from yesterday but it may have changed that 9 point swing on he JFM penalty. Who knows?
It’s clear some agent leaked this for leverage, I don’t care about the “GM” source, this smells like an agent…perhaps leaking to said “GM”.
Only thing that makes sense is cutting two to get Chubb since that part of the team is so deep.
They don’t need a draft of Brick and Mangold but I want an O- lineman with the #1 pick next year….unless we’re getting one now which makes much more sense
I am making $90 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning $16,000 a month by working on a laptop, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply. Everybody must try this job now by just using

See if they’ll take Zach for Chubb. One for one.
He would be a great addition but I just can’t get my head around a 1st plus the contract you would have to give him. You still have to pay Q, you have Lawsons deal, and JFMs contract. Are you cutting Lawson,JFM next year to pay Chubb? The difference between the two in talent is not worth a 1st for me. Or are you losing Q because of Chubb? IF JD can make it all work cap wise, I guess I’m good but numbers just don’t add up to me. Then again I’m not an NFL exec either.
The long-term cap ramifications would definitely make this a peculiar move. It would be very tough to move into next year with four 8-digit cap numbers at one position group. I would assume JFM or Lawson are on the way out if this happened? But I don’t think either player deserves to be cut. They’re having good years. So it’s an interesting rumor.
The money doesn’t add up, plus Rankins is a FA who deserves to come back, and the OT and C positions are questions going into the off-season. I think JD is doing his due diligence but can’t see it happening.
