New York Jets have favorable betting odds to acquire Raiders QB Derek Carr

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the New York Jets have a strong chance to land Derek Carr in the offseason.

The New York Jets are +400 to be Derek Carr’s next team, giving them the second-best odds. The Indianapolis Colts have the best odds, followed by the Jets. The Tennessee Titans are +500 while the divisional rival New England Patriots are +800. The Panthers, Buccaneers, and Commanders are +900 while the Saints and Giants are +1000 to round up the longshots.

Despite getting a lot of the blame for the disastrous season the Raiders had in 2022, Carr is a very productive quarterback in the NFL. For the Jets’ standards of quarterbacks, he would certainly be a big upgrade.

In his nine-year career, Carr has eclipsed 35,000 total passing yards with 217 touchdown passes and 99 interceptions. Carr has thrown for over 4,000 yards in four of the past five seasons, including 4,804 in 2021 (fifth-best in the league that year).

Carr just signed a three-year, $121.5 million extension with the Las Vegas Raiders in April 2022. His entire 2023 salary becomes guaranteed three days after the Super Bowl. If he is not traded by then, he will likely be released.

With the young and talented roster the Jets have, it makes a lot of sense for them to try to acquire a veteran quarterback. In my opinion, the Jets are too talented to wait around and develop a young QB.

The Jets will have other options, but Carr could be a perfect acquisition to start the 2023 offseason for New York.
