Derek Carr appears to be all smiles as he meets with the New York Jets
New York Jets fans are known for being keen sleuths during the offseason. Two years ago, the infamous “Bush Guy” captured the fanbase’s hearts as he camped in a bush outside of the team facility and spotted Robert Saleh arriving to interview with the team.
The fanbase’s reputation for perceptiveness has been built upon by another fan, who spotted free agent quarterback Derek Carr meeting with the Jets’ brass at a restaurant in Summit, New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.

Carr, who is all smiles, can be seen at the table with three other men, who appear to be Jets head coach Robert Saleh, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, and passing game coordinator Todd Downing. Downing shared three seasons with Carr in Oakland from 2015 to 2017, serving as Carr’s quarterbacks coach for the first two of those seasons and his offensive coordinator for the third.
It was reported on Friday that Carr would be visiting the Jets. Carr reportedly arrived in the area on Friday night. Josina Anderson says Carr had a “nice meal” with the Jets on Friday, so this would suggest that Carr’s afternoon lunch with the Jets on Saturday is his second meal with the team.
Meanwhile, the #Jets had a nice meal with Derek Carr yesterday.

Carr’s only other meeting to this point came with the New Orleans Saints, which occurred prior to his release from the Las Vegas Raiders. At this point in time, no other scheduled meetings have been reported, although the Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Commanders are rumored to have potential interest in Carr.
Due to the timing of his release, Carr is free to sign a contract with any team as soon as he likes. He does not have to wait until the new league year begins.
