Can Rodgers Break the Curse?

That would be two different curses, really: the Jets’ 14-game losing streak to Bill Belichick and the far more insidious Curse of Broadway Joe.

Belichick’s resignation as HC of the NYJ on a napkin ushered in an era of misery for the Jets, at least against their Northeast counterparts. Meanwhile, Joe Namath’s deal with the devil has had far more extensive consequences.

However, if Aaron Rodgers does, indeed, grace the halls of Florham Park, maybe that will finally change.

Namath has already given his blessing for Rodgers to use his retired No. 12. As sacrilegious as that may seem, maybe it’s necessary to finally bring the Lombardi Trophy back to the team that promoted the AFL-NFL merger with a 16-7 upset in Super Bowl 3.

Against the Patriots, with Rodgers leading the way, there is no reason that the Jets should continue to lose. The Patriots finally got their offensive coordinator situation figured out, but they’re still led by Macaroni-armed Jones. Their defense is always strong, but if anyone can figure out the shenanigans Belichick throws his way, it’s Rodgers.

Nothing will be easy for the Jets. Expect a dogfight in those Patriots games simply due to New England’s ferocious pass rush. But ultimately, that losing streak is on thin ice.

It all comes down to Rodgers. The biggest wild card of them all is still mum on his plans. But the sportsbooks believe he’s coming—so get on the Jets train before he actually does.
