New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh speaks about Aaron Rodgers
Courtesy of NFL Network reporter Judy Battista, we have gotten our first public comments from New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh about his potential future quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Per Battista, when asked about Rodgers saying he intends to play for the Jets, Saleh said, “Two years ago when we first got there, just thinking about where we were and how far we’ve come, to have a guy like him want to play for us is pretty cool and shows how far we’ve come.”

These are the first public comments a Jets official has made about Rodgers since the current Green Bay Packers quarterback announced his intention to play for New York on March 15.
The NFL’s annual league meetings are taking place this week in Phoenix, Arizona, lasting from March 26 to March 29. Teams usually make coaches and/or general managers available to speak to the media during this time, so we will likely be hearing more from Saleh and Joe Douglas about the Rodgers situation this week.
Or, at least, we will hear them attempt to dodge the many many Rodgers-related questions the media is sure to toss their way. Rodgers is still under contract with the Packers, so the Jets cannot say too much about him just yet.
The NFL draft is slightly over one month away and Rodgers remains a Packer despite stating his desire to play for the Jets eleven days ago. Trade talks remain stalled between New York and Green Bay, who appear to be nowhere close to reaching an agreement on a trade package that both sides are happy with. Perhaps both sides meeting face-to-face in Phoenix could help get the ball rolling.
