‘The Office’ star makes pitch to NY Jets following humiliating defeat

When Aaron Rodgers went down with a ruptured Achilles in Week 1, the New York Jets were determined that Rodgers’ injury wouldn’t ruin what was supposed to be a promising season.

Then reality set in.

After two horrific losses, Zach Wilson has shown that he’s not ready to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. And with that, the flurry of potential quarterback saviors have come in droves from ‘insiders’ and rumor mills alike.

Names like Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz, and even Tom Brady were tossed as potential candidates to start under center for the Jets before the Jets signed Trevor Siemian. While we won’t see Matt Ryan attempt to suit up for Gang Green, someone with star power has (jokingly) thrown their hat into the ring.

Rainn Wilson from the hit NBC series ‘The Office’, also known as Dwight, has offered his services to the Jets via Twitter.

Wilson, a Seattle native and a Seahawks fan, hasn’t hesitated to use the Jets as the butt of multiple jokes. And with Gang Green’s recent struggles at quarterback, they’ve become an easy target.

As for the actual situation under center for the Jets, it’s not looking good. While hope doesn’t seem lost with the team’s 1-2 record, the struggles of Wilson have been well-documented—and exploited.

The Jets’ starting quarterback has the worst EPA among all quarterbacks since the start of 2021 (min. 400 plays). And in Week 3, Wilson posted an EPA that ranked in the second percentile among all quarterback games in the last decade—an impressive feat considering that he did not turn the ball over.

Despite the obvious deficiencies at quarterback, head coach Robert Saleh has stayed firm in his belief of the Jets’ second overall pick from 2021. The team just added Siemian, but it is unrealistic to expect any change before the bye in Week 7.

The task doesn’t get any easier for the Jets going forward. They face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football in Week 4.
