A complete breakdown of the New York Jets’ All-22 film vs. Miami, including poor performances from two starting offensive linemen
New York Jets fans have witnessed a lot of bad offensive line play ever since the glory days of Nick Mangold and D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Despite the many years of struggles, the 2023 edition of the Jets’ offensive line might be the worst of all.
Everything came to a boiling point in the Jets’ season-ending 30-0 loss in Miami. Following multiple hard hits, Zach Wilson exited in the second quarter with a concussion after being relentlessly harassed on nearly every snap he played. The nightmare performance highlighted just how low this offensive line has stooped.
It’s easy to pin the Jets’ offensive line woes on the backups who are playing due to injuries, but as the film shows, the unit’s struggles largely come from two of Joe Douglas’ biggest investments: Mekhi Becton and Laken Tomlinson.

All of this and much more is discussed in this week’s edition of Blewett’s Blitz:
- Is there any way the Jets can justify bringing back Mekhi Becton and/or Laken Tomlinson?
- Is Joe Tippmann at least showing signs of hope?
- Does coaching deserve some blame for the offensive line issues?
- How much are the Jets hurt by the lack of separation from their wide receivers?
- To what degree does Nathaniel Hackett’s play-calling hurt the Jets?
