The  New York Jets are poised to end their 15-game losing streak to New England

The warmth inside is delightful, but the New York Jets-New England Patriots game outside is frightful.

As equally doomed division rivals, the Jets and Patriots have engaged in a snowy slugfest on the turf of Gillette Stadium. Greg Zuerlein‘s two field goals have outpaced one from Chad Ryland, giving Gang Green a 6-3 lead at halftime.

Despite the relatively muted nature of the game, the Jets are half-hour of game time away from ending their 15-game losing streak against New England.

This year wouldn’t be complete without one last dominant display of field position from Thomas Morstead, whose pindown of the Patriots at their own 3, setting up the first Zuerlein field goal of the day. Concerning his recent Pro Bowl snub, Morstead has appeared to have channeled his inner Michael Jordan and has “taken that personally.” He is averaging 53 yards on his first three punts of the day.

Pressure Drop, Anything But

If this is truly Bill Belichick’s swan song as the head coach of the Patriots, the Jets are offering him a perfect exit but raising the pressure despite the game’s meaningless nature. Quincy Williams is making yet another case for continued affairs in New York while Bryce Huff has also gotten in on the fun. Jamien Sherwood has also tallied a tackle for a loss as the Jets’ reserves get their chance to shine.

End on a High Note

If anything the Jets are providing a solid preview of next season, as Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson have continued to treat these meaningless final hours with an aura of respect and competitiveness. Through two periods, the young duo has united for over 100 yards of action so far, giving this brutal contest some semblance of star power.
