New York Jets defensive lineman Solomon Thomas was a presenter at the 2024 Tony Awards
It appears that the New York Jets have an affinity for the arts. After quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former tight end C.J. Uzomah were spotted at the 2023 Tony Awards, another Jets player made an impact at the ceremony this year. Defensive lineman Solomon Thomas (along with Nate Burleson) announced this year’s Best Play award at the Tony’s, to the surprise of many viewers.

The award was given to “Stereophonic,” created by playwriter David Adjmi.
Thomas’ appearance at the Tony’s comes days after the Jets lineman hosted “A Night at the Theatre” with Hamilton, a fundraiser to help create awareness and promotion of his charity, The Defensive Line. Thomas’ charity’s goal is to bring an end to the epidemic of youth suicide, by creating unique ways to communicate and connect with the youth regarding mental health issues.
“Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now” Still thinking about how lucky we are to have amazing partners in our mission! We loved celebrating “A Night At The Theatre: HAMILTON”, and we’re so excited to watch @sollythomas90 at @thetonyawards on CBS this weekend! pic.twitter.com/CE1I588dHX

And while Thomas has been busy off the field this year, he will look to build upon his performance on the field with the Jets this season.
Last year, the former 2017 first-round draft pick secured a career-high five sacks playing in a situational role with the Jets. Thomas re-signed with the Jets this offseason on a one-year, $3 million contract.
With the departure of John Franklin-Myers to Denver and a lack of a true presence on the interior defensive line alongside Quinnen Williams, there’s an opportunity for Thomas to increase his role with the team heading into 2024. However, he will have to compete with his former San Francisco teammate Javon Kinlaw.
While it may be an uphill battle for the 28-year old Thomas, the two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee from the Jets has the perseverance to play his role well, regardless of what it may be in 2024.
