Dan Orlovsky has a bold prediction for Aaron Rodgers’ performance with the New York Jets
Expectations for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are all over the place. Rodgers’ age, injury status, and less-than-ideal 2022 season war with the Jets’ superior roster at virtually every position.
One analyst was notably pessimistic about the Jets’ chances in 2024. When their over/under for wins was set at 9.5, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said he would take the under. He pointed to the sheer number of older and injured players the Jets are relying on to succeed.
However, Orlovsky seems to have a different take on Rodgers. On The Pat McAfee Show, Orlovsky was asked what he expects from Rodgers in 2024. The analyst’s response was somewhat surprising.
“I think Aaron is going to pick up very similar to what he was in 2021,” Orlovsky responded. “MVP-type of season? I don’t know if it’ll be that grand, but I do think he’s going to play at an awesome level.”
Orlovsky slammed the take that Rodgers did not play all that well in 2022, also posting on X about it.
Love how people keep saying “Rodgers wasnt great two years ago in GB”

About the Jets, Orlovsky echoed the general consensus that they’ll be great if they can stay healthy. He reiterated that it’s a major dice roll. Still, he pointed out that the expectations placed on Rodgers are to go out and score 17 points given the Jets’ elite defense. With Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall on the field and Rodgers’ ball security, that should be an easy ask.
It’s hard to square this Orlovsky take with his initial under-9.5 pick for the Jets. Still, his optimism about Rodgers echoes that of Jets fans everywhere. His take on Rodgers’ 2022 season also jives with what shows up on the film.
With training camp here, Rodgers will have a chance to start to show he hasn’t lost a step.
