The star New York Jets running back offered a guarantee for his 2024 season
Breece Hall is calling his shot.
During his media availability on Thursday, the star running back guaranteed he would eclipse the 1,000-yard rushing mark in 2024.
“I’m for sure going to have 1,000-plus yards this year. That’s not something that’s even in the back of my mind. If we do what we are supposed to do as a team, I will have every individual goal that I want.”
With a line that Hall says he is “blessed” to run behind, eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark should not be an issue for the running back.
In 2023, Hall already averaged 4.5 yards per attempt and forced 46 missed tackles with arguably one of the worst offensive lines in the league. He carried an offense that basically could only rely on himself, Garrett Wilson, and Tyler Conklin. Hall ultimately fell just six yards short of the 1,000-yard mark, finishing with 994 yards on 223 carries.
Now, the third-year running back has a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback leading the offense. He has Mike Williams to go along with new tackles Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith.
Stacked boxes will not be much of an issue, nor will he have to drive the offense to victory by himself. In theory, Hall should be able to thrive and put up even better numbers than his 1,585 yards from scrimmage in 2023.
If all things go accordingly for the Jets and Hall, a 1,000-yard rushing season would be a minimal talking point. Instead, the topic will be if Hall can challenge for 2,000 yards from scrimmage and the claim for the best running back in the league.
