FLORHAM PARK, NJ—Ok, so perhaps the third installment of New York Jets training camp 2024 wasn’t exactly as raucous as the previous episode. Without paying fans in the stands, hype and noise made way for the usual professionalism and calm witnessed since voluntary OTAs.
“Not that there’s anything wrong with that,” of course.
Friday’s session featured more good from Aaron Rodgers and the offense, including figuring out ways to overcome already dialed-in coverage on the other side of the ball.
It also featured a hefty dose of positional drills, which are the little brother to the meat-and-potatoes practice portion fans always clamor for this time of year: teams.
Remember, those practice stats you happen upon in the digital space are only derived from a specific portion of the day—when the entire team gets together for some lifelike environmental fun. (That is save for 7v7 sessions, of course, when the entire team, minus the big heavies, get together to toss the pigskin.)
In any event, Friday’s session showcased another ramp-up toward full pads next week. Robert Saleh seemingly extended positionals a bit, which could only be described as deploying an impressive tempo.
