Rodgers went down during a New York Jets practice and was angry about it

The New York Jets’ first padded training camp practice was an unmitigated disaster for the offense. Unsurprisingly, Aaron Rodgers was hot.

The session was littered with high snaps, dropped passes, sloppy blocking, and a host of other issues. Jets X-Factor will have a full breakdown.

One incident, though, deserves its own spotlight. Rodgers took a snap under center and immediately went down. One of the offensive linemen stepped on his foot.

Jets fans hold their collective breaths any time Rodgers hits the turf. Having it happen because an offensive lineman stepped on his foot is particularly nerve-wracking, as serious injuries can occur from being stepped on in the wrong place.

Rodgers was very angry after the incident, vocally showing his displeasure. ESPN’s Rich Cimini wrote on X, “Haven’t seen Rodgers this upset in a while.”

It wouldn’t be surprising to find out that Joe Tippmann was the one who stepped on Rodgers. He reportedly had a miserable day, sending at least six bad shotgun snaps. This was an issue for Tippmann throughout his first training camp and rookie season. It needs to be ironed out as soon as possible.

As far as the Jets’ poor offensive day, this is why practices exist. The offensive line needs time to jell. With Mike Williams and Xavier Gipson out, the receiving corps is operating at a deficit. Rodgers will need time to build chemistry with his line and receivers.

Still, the main thing the Jets need from practice is for their players to stay healthy, especially their quarterback. They came too close to an injury for anyone’s comfort.
