If Joe Tippmann’s snapping is the biggest New York Jets issue, the team is in really good shape. Of course, the Aaron Rodgers news will continue to permeate the atmosphere, but that’s just outside noise. Ditto for the Haason Reddick holdout.
Still, Tippmann’s snapping is an issue, most recently demonstrated at the Jets’ Green and White scrimmage when he snapped a ball over Rodgers’ head. It killed a red zone drive, which would be a serious issue in the regular season. It’s becoming a significant case of the yips, and we’ve seen that last a long time with other positions in football, namely kickers.

Just how big of a concern is it? That’s the first topic I discussed with Dom C of Project Prospect on the newest edition of The Score Boord Podcast. In addition to scouting NFL draft prospects, Dom analyzes Jets film.
Some of the other subjects we hit on:
- The Jets’ kick return competition and why Izzy Abanikanda has been excluded
- Expectations for John Simpson
- Tyler Conklin’s rank compared to other NFL tight ends
- Will McDonald’s ceiling this season
- The Jets’ slot corner situation and a Michael Carter II extension
- The Week 1 matchup against San Francisco
Dom and I went back to an old debate: should the Jets have drafted running backs in back-to-back rounds? This is not a knock on Isaiah Davis; both of us are bullish on him. But was there a better move Joe Douglas could have made to solidify a well-rounded team?
