One of the New York Jets’ main offseason additions is finally back at practice.
During his first media availability of the season, wide receiver Mike Williams spoke about how he felt in his return to practice after being activated off the PUP list. He said it “feels good” to put the shoulder pads back on again and to be out there with his teammates. Additionally, Williams detailed how his recovery process has been.

“A grind for sure, I say. This whole process has been a grind, Putting the work in early mornings, late nights, just, you know, trying to get back.”
Regarding his availability for Week 1, Williams merely said, “we will see.”
Williams also spoke about building chemistry with the offense when he returns to team drills.
“I feel like chemistry can come whenever I get out there. But yeah, just continue to come out here. The trainer’s got a plan for me, and I’m going to stick with it.”
It is evident that Williams still has a road ahead of him to return to the field. He has to get his feet underneath him in individual and positional drills before returning to full-contact team drills.
However, the veteran receiver is much closer to the field than most expected him to be at this point. Williams is ahead of schedule and should be on track to return for the Jets’ Week 1 matchup against the 49ers.
Williams is the consistent deep threat and jump-ball winner New York has been missing for years. Once he arrives back on the field, a Jets offense that is already producing great days in camp should take another big step forward.
